Good morning witches
You can’t live with them and you can’t live with out them, they drive you round the bend, cry all over your cards, yet we still do what we do to help them. Clients of course. Over the years I have been asked some real doozy’s from clients from is my husband having an affair, can I have an affair, is my son gay? I kid you not! I think the best one was the lady who asked if it was ok is she had an affair and if she did would she get away with it! Honestly you do wonder how some people manage to get out of bed and get dressed each day.
All joking aside, how you set the boundaries on your client relationships an important part of how you do a reading. This is in my mind because this week on the “Not any old Tarot course” Client care was the subject of the week. Their are some obvious rules that you should have in mind when sitting with a client. Good manors and appropriate language, go a long way to making the reading experience a good one. I have been known to change my vernacular depending on my client. What I say to a lady of certain age isn’t what I”m going to say too a twenty something, and me being me I don’t do fluff and unicorns, you get it as it is. Being “politically correct” and using the appropriate gender pronoun’s are of course a given. At the end of the reading it boils down to have you given the best reading for the sitter you have in front of you?
But that isn’t what I want to impress on you today. When I was in training, learning my craft as a reader we where always told that you had to read for the person in front of you no matter what. This was because it was more important for them (the client) to get the message’s from spirit then it was for you, as the reader, to feel comfortable in the reading.
For a long time now I do not hold with that school of thought. And we teach out that you, as the reader, have the right to refuse to read if you feel that your two energies are not going to sit right together. For some one like me who feels the energy of a person well before any other system of assessment kicks in, it’s a pretty easy call to make. Why set yourself up to fail? If you can feel your energy recoil and start to shut down when someone sit’s in the chair opposite you then what’s the point in trying to mash out a reading that isn’t going to get anywhere? It’s better for you as the reader and for the client to say sorry this isn’t going to work and ask them to move on. It’s better for you to pick your clients’s for as you do, as has happened to me, the feeling at the end of the day when you know you have given your best readings and you know that you have really helped someone is just the best feeling and the main reason why most of us keep on going.
So they drive us crazy and ask the most mundane things but we o are best to help them and point them in a better direction. But be picky in who you read for and work with the intention of giving the best reading you know how to and you won’t go far wrong when you shuffle your cards.
Like I said that was in my mind because it was the subject for this week’ course module. This is of course if you want to get as afar as doing readings for others. However the flip side of that is that it’s just as valid to be using the Divination arts just for yourself. As I’ve blogged before, they are an important tool in any witches tool box. Their are some important things you should know when you start using these tools for your own improvement. First one you should be mindful of is the “Psychic’s curse” Because of your own wants, desires, dreams, hopes and fears you have to be sure to be mindful of these when you interpret the cards. Unless the cards give you a very clear answer to your question be mindful of what they are trying to tell you. Don’t keep pulling cards on the same question day after day if you don’t like the answer they first gave you, they will get pissed off with you and give you an answer that is so cryptic that you will get no where. Keep your questions simple and to the point and you’ll get better answers then a long complicated, rambling question. Now we all know that the future is never set in stone, personal choice and free will, change the path we are on daily so it’s not usually a good idea to ask about the future, as it changes every day. Depending on the reading then I wouldn’t usually ask further than a week ahead on day to day matters. I do a Sabbat spiritual reading for that session, but the intention of that reading is a spiritual one not a material one so I feel that looking ahead 3 – 4 months is ok but I wouldn’t do that for day to day matters.
My tips for good personal readings
- Be mindful of your own desires and hope’s and don’t let those interfere with the reading
- Keep the question simple and to the point
- don’t keep asking about the same thing if you don’t like the answer
- don’t try and look to far ahead
Reading for yourself is a good way to check what is around you and the energy forces at play. It’ll give you a good indication if your on a receiving end of a Hex or if someone else is trying to direct your outcomes.
It’s worth getting to know your cards and using them just be mindful of what your asking and the answer’s you get.
Hope you all have a blessed week. Laters witches!
