4th December 2022 ‘Tis the season

Good morning witches

’tis the season, Yule! My fav of all the Sabbats. This time of year always feels much more mystical and magical to me. The change in the weather and the longer days. Misty, frosty mornings full of wonder and promise. There is something very magical about a frosty spider’s web glinting in the morning ight. This is when I’ve always felt the Goddess much more closer to me than at any other time of the year.

I’m lucky enough to be up and about way before the sun is up these days and their is something very powerful about watching the sunrise come up, even if your in the middle of an industrial estate rather than out in the fields and the woods.

As some of you might have seen if you follow on insta that this year I’m having a go at making a Yule log out of modelling clay. The tradition of the Yule log seems to have many stores attached to it. Do you burn it to keep the evils away during the longest night or is it to celebrate the return of the Sun and the slow growing of the days. Personally I keep the tradition to ward off the evils during the longest night. Also under the yule log I’ll have a little bit of paper with all my worries written on it. As the Yule log burns it’ll take my worries away with it. Of course I won’t actually be burning a clay log but I’ll burn the bit of paper when I’ve finished my meditation and ritual on the night it’s self. It’s a form of Banishing Magick. I have read recently that you can anoint your log with Rosemary and Cinnamon oil’s as well to help with the lifting of negative energy. I”ll anoint a couple of tea lights and place them around my Log and do it that way. As a witch, you have to be resourceful and use what you’ve got at the time.

Yule is also the traditional time to rest and reflect on the past year. But the last couple of years I’ve found I’ve done more magic and ritual in the yule seasons that I do at High Summer. And I have a feeling that this year will be no different as I try to forge a new path away from the restraints I’ve found that I have placed around me. As Yule also marks the Winter Solstice it is a good time to sit with your journal for a while and write down what you’ve learned this year and note the things that could have worked out differently. Which for me, this year, will be tenfold. It’s also a nice to take stock of friendships as well. See who has moved out of your circle, sometimes with a push, but some may have slipped out with out noticing. May be it’s time for a txt or a email to someone you’ve not heard form for a while.

As we start to wrap up 2022, close the year with a realising Ritual and start 2023 without some of the negative that still lingers.

Have a blessed week, laters witches
